Orion has several primary functions:
1. Manage competitions from end to end with both paper targets and electronic scoring targets, such as Athena.
2. Score paper targets using a desktop scanner, or import scores from an EST system
3. Upload your scores automatically to the internet for viewing, tracking, and analyzing.
Orion Solves The Biggest Competition Challenges
For years there needed to be a unified solution to marksmanship match management and a better experience for the spectator. Since 2009, the Orion Scoring System has revolutionized competition management in the United States. Scoring paper targets by hand has become a thing of the past as clubs are now using Orion to score stacks of paper targets in just minutes.
Orion makes scores more verifiable than any other solution by creating digitized images of the targets that can be reviewed by humans for errors. Its accuracy of 0.1mm or less makes Orion the most accurate and reliable scoring solution to date.
Scoring targets alone only solves half of the problem of running a match. Orion introduced a way for clubs to manage their competitions by using athlete databases, assignable teams, pre-built courses of fire, support for finals and protests, results ranking lists, and the list goes on.
How Orion Works
Create a match in Orion with your choice of rulebook, course of fire, scoring method, and more. A "match" can be a competition, or just for practice. Assign athletes to your match and start shooting.
Orion uses Visual Image Scoring (VIS) to score your targets. When a paper target is fed through the scanner, a digital image of the target is recorded and scored. Athena ESTs use a similar algorithm to score shots and show instantly in Orion.
The score is assigned to an athlete and uploaded to Rezults, where scores and ranking lists are updated in real time. Scores can then be viewed by anyone, anywhere.
