2024 National Air Rifle New Shooter and Air Pistol League: Third Week Review

In the New Shooter League, a handful of wins and bye weeks have reshaped the top placings a bit. Jack C. Hays MCJROTC has moved further into the lead, while placings 2 through 5 have switched around, moving into even tighter competition with each other.

In the Air Pistol League, Lafayette Gun Club is sat in the top spot after another strong performance in week 3. Interestingly, 2023 Air Pistol League winners NoVA Sharpshooters have moved to 3rd place now despite being the only undefeated team in the Air Pistol League.

James Madison AJROTC Outperforms Caney Creek NJROTC

James Madison AJROTC (3 - 0) took a win against Caney Creek NJROTC last week, moving themselves up to 4th place in the New Shooter League now. They have been consistently moving upwards with each win, and now sit behind Saint Thomas Academy by only 2 points. Week 4 will see James Madison’s first bye week of the season, while Caney Creek will face Haines City High School.

Jack C. Hays MCJROTC Comes Back Strong Against Kelly Walsh MCJROTC

Jack C. Hays MCJROTC (2 - 0) came back strong after their bye week to defeat Kelly Walsh MCJROTC (1 - 1) in Week 3. Jack C. Hays trudges further ahead in 1st place after this win, leading by 26 points. Zion Benton NJROTC currently sits in 2nd place. Placings 2 through 6 are all very close, and could change at any time. Placings 7 through 10 are even closer, being separated by 1 point or less each.

Saint Thomas Academy Takes Third After Lewisville AJROTC

Saint Thomas Academy (3 - 0), one of only a few 3 - 0 teams so far, moved up into 3rd place after defeating Lewisville AJROTC (2 - 1) last week. Only 2.5 points behind Zion Benton NJROTC, their steady scores may serve to keep them in the running for the top teams. In week 4, they will face Vilseck AJROTC.

Lafeyette Gun Club Defeats Grand Rapids Rifle & Pistol Club

Lafayette Gun Club (2 - 1) sits at the top of the Air Pistol League after their win against Grand Rapids Rifle and Pistol Club (1 - 2) this week. They have shown a consistent improvement in score week after week. In week 4, both Lafayette Gun Club and 2nd place Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association will have a bye week.
