2024 National Air Rifle New Shooter and Air Pistol League: Week Seven Review

Week seven of the 2024 Scopos National New Shooter and Air Pistol Leagues had many bye weeks in the top spots. In the New Shooter League, only 1 of the top 5 teams competed. Zion Benton NJROTC took advantage of this to move into the fourth place spot in the New Shooter League. Top spots in the New Shooter League are still up for grabs with just 3 weeks left to go. The Air Pistol League can still go to any top team as well, with a not significantly large spread between the top three teams.

Zion Benton NJROTC Defeats Mariner AJROTC

Zion Benton NJROTC improved upon last week’s season best score by nearly 2 points, defeating Mariner AJROTC with a 1062.8 in week 7. Zion Benton was the only team in the top 5 of the New Shooter League who competed last week. They now sit in 4th place with a record of 4 - 2. This week, both Zion Benton and Mariner will have bye weeks.

Ramona NJROTC  Prevails Over West Forsyth AJROTC

Ramona NJROTC secured their fourth win by defeating West Forsyth AJROTC in week 7. Ramona has been a strong contender this season and currently sits in 6th place, just barely behind or ahead of Stony Point High School and Lemoore NJROTC. Next week, Ramona will vie for 5th place against Stony Point and West Forsyth will compete against American Legion Post 290.

Georgetown NJROTC Bests Lewisville AJROTC

Georgetown NJROTC shot their best score of the season so far by over 20 points, defeating Lewisville AJROTC, who also shot their best score of the season. Georgetown currently sits less than one point behind Norview NJROTC. Next week, Georgetown will match up with John F. Kennedy MCJROTC and Lewisville will compete with C.T. Johnson AJROTC.

South County Rod and Gun Club Outperforms Seaford NJROTC

South County Rod & Gun Club collected their second win of the season in week 7, defeating Seaford NJROTC. South County sits steadily in sixth place with a record of 2 - 4. Next week, South County will face off against second place team Lafayette Gun Club and Seaford will face third place team Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association.
