The 2024 National Air Rifle New Shooter and Air Pistol League commenced last week with over 60 teams competing across both leagues. This was merely the first of ten total weeks in the regular season. Sitting at the top so far, we have Jack C. Hays MCJROTC in the New Shooter League and Lafeyette Gun Club in the Air Pistol League.

The first week of the league is noted by random scheduling, giving the opportunity to compete against each other to teams who have never met, and to start to place themselves for scheduling in later weeks. Remember, the second week of the leagues will have random scheduling as well. Teams will then have 8 more weeks to vie for the top spots across their 8 total matches.

Jack C. Hays MCJROTC Outmatches Rock Hill AFJROTC

Jack C Hays MCJROTC came out with a strong start in week 1, defeating Rock Hill AFJROTC. They now sit at the top spot in the first week of the New Shooter League. As you may recall, Jack C. Hays MCJROTC won the Sporter League in the 2023 National Air Rifle League. Interestingly, no team has won both the National Air Rifle Sporter League and the New Shooter League in the same year.

Zion Benton NJROTC Beats SH Rider AJROTC

Zion Benton came out of their first week win landing in 3rd place by a mere 1 point, just ahead of Stony Point High School. Zion Benton NJROTC will face Redmond MCJROTC in their second week, while SH Rider AJROTC will see Eldorado NJROTC in week 2.

Lafayette Gun Club Narrowly Defeats Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association in Air Pistol

Lafayette Gun Club came out on top by a mere 5 points in their first week matchup against Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association. This puts them in the lead to start things off, going up against NoVA Sharpshooters in week 2.

NoVA Sharpshooters Begin Their Title Defense This Week

The 2023 Air Pistol League winners, NoVA Sharpshooters, had a bye week this past week. They will begin their title defense this week competing against Lafayette Gun Club. Uniquely, both of these teams are from Virginia.
